As we launch the final installment of nwcurrent, the Northwest’s clean energy newsletter, we don’t want to leave our readers in the dark when it comes to finding reliable and timely conservation and renewable energy news. Following is a list of resources we think will help keep you up to speed and ahead of the curve in 2008, once nwcurrent goes offline. 

CleanWatch, a clean energy newsletter published by Clean Edge, a research and consulting firm founded by Joel Makower and nwcurrent columnist Ron Pernick. The free e-newsletter that covers the latest news, events, and other resources on clean energy, transportation, water,and materials. www.cleanedge.com  

Clearing Up, a weekly newsletter produced by Intermountain Communications of Bend, Ore., provides timely updates on energy policy, resource development and energy market news in the Pacific Northwest region and western . To subscribe, go to www.newsdata.com.

EERE Network News, published by the U.S. Department of Energy’s office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, is a national weekly e-newsletter covering energy efficiency and renewable energy news and events. Subscribe to have the free newsletter sent to your inbox. www.eere.energy.gov/news/enn.cfm 

Energy Priorities magazine, is an online news source offering original articles and commentary on renewable energy, energy-efficiency and clean technology. http://energypriorities.com

EnergyIdeas Clearinghouse, operated and managed by the Washington State University Extension Energy Program in Olympia, Wash., and funded by the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, is an information portal that is updated weekly. Stories originate from regional and national newspapers as well as local and federal energy agencies. The site compliments EnergyIdeas toll-free “Ask an Expert” hotline. www.energyideas.org

Northwest Energy Coalition, an alliance of more than 100 organizations promoting the development of renewable energy, conservation, low-income energy assistance and fish and wildlife restoration on the Columbia and Snake rivers, provides timely news and a blog on their Web site. www.nwenergy.org

Northwest Energy and Environment News Portal, produced by Intermountain Communications, is an information clearinghouse written for energy specialists as well as consumers. Stories originate from regional newspapers and other media outlets, including the “Columbia Basin Bulletin” newsletter and the “Columbia Basin Energy Report,” both of which are also published by Intermountain Communications and are available for a fee. www.northwestenergyandenvironment.com

NEON is a weekly e-newsletter published by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, which provides news briefs and information on products and technologies. www.nrel.gov/publications/neon

SmartGrid Newsletter is on online newsletter and blog focused on transmission issues, grid modernization and industry news. With funding by the U.S. Department of Energy, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the GridWise Alliance, SmartGrid Newsletter is available free to subscribers. www.smartgridnews.com

Sustainable Industries magazine, the West Coast’s leading green business magazine, provides features, profiles, industry news, events and commentary. The magazine, available in print and online, has a strong focus on energy, clean technology and green building, www.sustainableindustries.com

Synergy, the Energy Trust of Oregon’s monthly newsletter, includes news, success stories and promotions being offered by the Energy Trust. Stories are focused on energy efficiency as well as renewable energy. www.energytrust.org/synergy/0710/index.html  

Tidepool, a daily online news digest produced by Sightline, offers links to top news stories on economic, environmental and social issues. The following link connects to Tidepool's energy headlines. www.tidepool.org/energy

Flex Your Power, while not focused on the Pacific Northwest, is a Web site and news source dedicated specifically to energy efficiency and conservation information. The site, which is funded through a “public goods charge” from California utilities, offers information for increasing conservation in residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural applications. The site also includes a link to “Power Plug,” an energy efficiency blog. www.fypower.com
